The Endangered Species Act is Under Attack

The most important law we have for protecting endangered species is under serious attack. For over 45 years, the Endangered Species act has been successful in bringing species like the bald eagle, the Florida manatee, and the red wolf back from the brink of extinction. Earlier this week, the Trump administration announced new regulations that will seriously undermine the Endangered Species Act. These new regulations could eliminate protections for any new species listed as threatened, which could include wolverines and lesser prairie chickens. Weaken bedrock consultation requirements that would significantly threaten species like North Atlantic right whale, California tiger salamanders, and southern resident orcas. Open the door to politicizing what should be solely a science-based listing decision affecting species like the dunes sagebrush lizard, and the Pacific walrus. Defenders of Wildlife will not sit back. We will challenge these rules in court and we will fight these egregious rollbacks on every front. We refuse to stand by while the administration puts industry above imperiled species and destroys the last line of defense against extinction. Thank you so much for standing with us every step of the way. Your support is critical.

  1. All those who are involved in terrorizing Gaia and all her inhabitants will face repercussions they can't understand yet because they are lost in the darkness, but they will pay a very serious price. Keep up the great work Defenders and I will continue to support you financially and spiritually.

  2. shame on trump-he cares NOTHING for wildlife, he only cares about himself and about oil and money. hope to god he goes soon, before he can do more harm to animals and the environment
