Chronique vidéo #21: Be the Wolf, Rouge, 18/11/2016

Hello and welcome to a new review that will focus today on the album called Rouge of Italian Hard Rock Modern band Be The Wolf. To introduce you this album I will read the press release that I find very well written and very announcing of what you’ll hear: « Be The Wolf’s music is an addictive mix of contemporary but Seventies-inspired rock and a touch of blues-filled atmospheres. Groovy anthems alternate with slow paced tracks and folkish ballads, with wide range vocals delivering catchy refrains and haunting melodies, enhanced by gospel-infused choirs. ‘Rouge.’, the band’s new album, was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andrea Fusini and sets new standards for the band: longer than the debut yet straight to the point, the record is a concept about blood, fire and faith, a raw analysis of modern society, with its French title to be seen as an homage to the Bataclan victims. » We attack with heavy song first with Phenomenons, a good energetic track that can make us think of Rock Fm even Punk Rock because it is sure to hear some onomatopoeia taking the main riff. A very cool song which let us see a very sympathetic album. Well we calm down directly with ballad Down To The River,I find it misplaced because it causes a chilling effect after the previous song; the atmosphere change is too abrupt. But this ballad is rather energetic; it is far from dull or monotonous and won’t fail to make you move your head. Follows Animals, a more Hard Rock song with a jerky riff supported by an efficient choir on the choruses. This is the gem of this album with this intermingling melodies and small riffs all pleasurable; it isn’t far from the most qualitative album title for my taste; not my favorite but probably the best. So there we attack my favorite song Blah Blah Blah is a true tube by itself with his very indie rock sound. The song is excellent; although the chorus is simple but it beautifies the verses that are sure to make you think of Coldplay by the clear and bright melody that can get out. Shibuya takes a very indie rock melody before diving into a more Rock’N Roll sound. A song that I appreciate particularly and makes me think about Reliefs (a French-Quebecker Indie Rock band). The track still calms enough regarding the previous but it won’t failed to wake us up with its heady chorus. Well here ends up playing with the big staggering intro of Gold Driggers, which leaves room for a small, cheerful riff and that makes you want to dance like a little child. I loved a lot this composition which never ceases to make me smile when I think of possible achievable choreography on this track. Peeps goes less in for subtleties and adopts a heavier riff but still bright. Sound a little funky that emerges is nice and the chorus is really leading. I enjoyed the little “interlude” before each sung parts and gives a kind of expectation that is satisfied automatically. Rise Up Together is like a FM track, a catchy melody and without the fuss ona sublime chorus. Most probably the most accessible track of the album. The Game adopts a sound more edgy and fastest; but don’t worry the joyful side of the chant is always there and brings a special atmosphere to this composition. Song that is in keeping perfectly with the previous songs following. Freedom follows a well-dancing song that is sure to get you moving in spite of you, whether you want it or not. The track is well composed to create you both waiting to choruses and addiction to this rise crescendo announcing them. Pure tube, not the most effective in this album but this is definitely a hit. A track that leaves us on a positive note with a successful album and full of good humor. Admittedly this is perhaps not the original message because I didn’t analyze the lyrics, because I don’t have the required level of English, but note that emerges is still joy and a good mood. Finally an album composed mostly of power tubes all very well composed. If you want to dance and have fun, this album is for you. You will not fail to be motivated again by this album which gives a smile and fishing. I give them the following mark: 19/20
